Agra is the monument city known as the city of Taj and the city of Mughals. Due to this one can find many Mughal monuments here. One can also find Mughal gardens and markets in the city. Mughal monuments are famous due to their art, architecture and story behind them. Apart from the Mughal monuments does this city have anything else which can impress the visitors? Yes, surely there are grave monuments, cemetry monuments, monument statues, memorial monuments, tomb stones, historic monuments and all these are the national monuments of India.


One would be surprised to know that the Archaelogical Survey of India has more than 3650 monuments to take care all over the country and 395 monuments to take care in the Agra circle. The ancient monuments, architecture monuments, memorials, graves, building monuments are all part of it. Though many of them are not as famous as the Taj Mahal is, there are other famous monuments in other states of India as well. The state monuments  are particularly taken care by the A.S.I branch of that state in the country.


Taj Mahal is the monument of love and is the symbol of love. The monument sign given to the Taj is due to its story. The monument has precious designs on it which has also made it a great wonder for us. This monument known as the tear drop monument is one of the seven wonders of the world. However, Agra has three world heritage monuments namely Taj Mahal, Agra Fort or Red Fort and the Fatehpur Sikri which can be enlisted in the list of world famous monuments.

Taj Mahal: One of the Seven Wonders of the World or 'a teardrop on the cheek of time', Taj Mahal is a beautiful monument which does not really need an description. Agra Fort: Agra Fort or the Red Fort as many of us know, this monument is a wonderful and huge architecture of the Mughals. Known for its massive palaces made up of red sand stones and marbles, this fort is very old and is still standing at this age. Mariam's Tomb: Mariam's tomb is located on the left side of the Agra-Mathura Road in Agra. This tomb is of Mariam-uz-Zamani Begum Sahiba, the Rajput wife of Akbar the Great. She has been also known as Jodha Bai in modern times. Read more and see the photos


European Cemetery:
European Cemetery also known as the Roman Catholic Cemetery is a well known for John William Hessing’s Tomb and the Samru’s Tomb. It is one of the ancient Christian cemeteries in Agra.
