Taj Mahotsav - Festival of Taj

Taj Mahotsav (The Festival of Tourism of Agra, India) is the festival of art, craft, culture and cuisine. The ten days unique festival starts every year from 18th to 27th February. Taj Mahotsav is the most eagerly awaited festival of the Taj Mahal for the complete family. Each day of the Taj Mahotsav ends with the evening shows of the famous Indian artists with dance and music.  All the foreign visitors have free entry in the Taj Mahotsav. Don't miss it next year. The Taj Mahal is one of the monuments of the city due to which this festival is celebrated with great joy.

The 10 days long carnival is arranged to bring together India’s finest craft and culture at one single place. The festival has extensive range of art, craft, culture and cuisine arranged together from all India.

  • Venue of the Taj Mahotsav: Shilpgram is a beautiful craft village located at a distance of 750 meters from the Eastern Gate of the Taj Mahal. The 11.5 acres of land of the village is the official parking for the Taj Mahal and is the venue for the Taj Mahotsav every year.
     
  • Date of the festival: Every year from 18th February to 27th February
     
  • Period of the Festival: 10 days
     
  • Distance from the Taj Mahal: The distance of the Taj Mahotsav venue from the eastern gate of the Taj Mahal is 500 to 600 meters only.
     
  • How to reach the Taj Mahotsav venue: If you are at the Eastern Gate of the Taj Mahal or any other area around the Taj Mahal then below given means as the easiest ways to reach the Ta Mahotsav venue. 
    • Horse or Camel driven vehicles: You can enjoy horse or camel ride from the Eastern Gate of Taj Mahal to the Taj Mahotsav venue.
    • Bi-cycle rikshaws: The bi-cycles drop you easily at the front gate of the Taj Mahotsav venue from the eastern gate of the Taj Mahal.
    • Pollution-free three wheelers: You will find three wheelers standing in a queue waiting for the visitors to drop from the Taj Mahal to the Taj Mahotsav front gate.
    • Pollution-free four wheelers: Mini bus for a group of people is the easiest way to travel from the Taj to the festival venue.
    • Golf-Cart: The new battery operated four wheeler which is 13 seaters vehicle can easily drop you to and fro from Taj to Shipgram.
    • By walk: If you want to see the other beauty of shops, arts, marble works then you can walk easily from the eastern gate of the Taj Mahal towards the Taj Mahotsav venue. You can also buy various gifts for you loved ones on the way to the festival venue.
       
  • Taj Mahotsav Entry: The entry fees to the Taj Mahaotsav is free for foreign tourists and 10/- per head for the Indian tourists. Also, there is no fees separate fees for the evening shows.
     
  • History of Taj Mahotsav: This cultural festival began in 1992 and in 2010 we all will celebrate the 19th year of the festival. One of the purposes of celebrating this festival is to encourage the artists and make available the magnificent work of art and craft at the most reasonable and authentic prices. At the Taj Mahotsav about 400 legendary artisans from different parts of India get an opportunity to show their exquisite work of art. Also the variety of dishes available from all the parts of country at one place is amazing to see and to taste. The decorated shops and the stalls with indivisual cultures of serving food from all the regions of India make a perfect diet for us.
     
  • Art, Culture, Craft and Cuisine at the Taj Mahotsav: The main reason of all the tourists to visit the festival of tourism of the Taj is the art, culture, craft and cuisine of the city of Agra which is special and quite old.

    • Cultural Programs: Throughout the Taj Mahotsav you will experience a profusion of folk and classical music and dance of various regions of India. The Brij Bhumi is the classical dance performed by experienced artists. It is performed exactly in the same way as it was centuries ago. The enthralling experience will make you dance along with the folk dancers. Besides this the Mahotsav has performances from renowned artists from classical, semi-classical and other popular art forms.
    • Cuisines: Along with the entertainment and shopping one would always love to have good dishes around you. You will find food of all the cuisines and special from Uttar Pradesh. There are big stalls in a row to serve you the food of your taste. The delicious bhel- puri and golgappa from Mumbai attract the visitors the most. There are various canteens and guest house for eating food with great pleasure. On the left hand side we can see the mouth watering dish from the South India.
    • Fun-fair: The Taj Mahotsav is for the people of all the age. The fun-fair is the greatest attraction for your tiny tots. The complete family amusement fair can be enjoyed at the venue. There are merry-go-rounds, train-rides, Ferris wheel, various rides and roller coasters. You can come with your family and have fun at the Taj Mahotsav. On the right hand side we can see the picture of the giant wheel waiting to play with your kids. There are many such entertainments for your tiny tots.
